Catalyte and our software developer Sam are featured in a new “Roadtrip Nation” episode, Built on Skills. You can watch it here.
Catalyte believes in the premise that it’s a person’s skills and abilities that matter, not their pedigree or background. We know that skills like leadership, project management, communication and problem solving are transferable. Regardless of where our employees acquired these skills, they use them every day building software, optimizing campaigns or creating superior user experiences for our clients.
Not all employers feel this way. Many still rely on outdated hiring models based on resumes. This means top talent, people who can do the work better than anyone else, are left on the sidelines. They can’t find work and employers either leave positions unfilled or hire inferior talent.
“Roadtrip Nation,” a documentary series that airs nation-wide on PBS affiliates, wanted to highlight these systemic hiring barriers. The producers reached out to us to see if one of our employees, someone who was able to start a technology career without a degree or prior job experience, would act as a guide for Garrett, one of its “Roadtrippers.”
We knew that Sam would be the perfect person to share his knowledge and journey with Garrett. Sam could show him how each job and each skill acquired is a step towards growing your career and making a better life.
Thank you to Roadtrip Nation for highlighting this important topic and including Catalyte in the conversation.
This is just that start. As AI technologies continue to disrupt business and hiring, skills will become an even more important factor in talent discovery. We will continue to advocate for people like Sam and processes that see beyond what a person has done and focus on what they can do.
