Who We Are

All enterprises are evolving to become more nimble, innovative and digitally-led. With massive changes in the technology landscape, companies need corresponding development in skills and the future workforce. To most, a digitally savvy, agile workforce is unobtainable and a main impediment to growth. We need new sources of talent.

Catalyte believes aptitude is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. We use artificial intelligence to identify individuals, regardless of background, who have the innate potential and cognitive ability to be great software developers. With our technology and proprietary talent transformation program, we solve the most persistent challenge in IT today: creating a ready-to-hire workforce that is diverse, affordable and sustainable.

For over 18 years, Catalyte’s predictive analytics platform has narrowed the talent gap for Fortune 1000 companies and has caught the attention of the New York Times, Wired, Fast Company, Inc. and McKinsey, among others. Our AI-based hiring model and intensive apprenticeship program create software development teams that consistently outperform industry averages.

With development centers in Baltimore, Chicago, Denver and Portland, Ore., Catalyte has created a diverse, US-based technology workforce to help companies close the talent gap and scale software innovation.

Our History

Learn how we eliminate hiring bias and produce high-performing software engineers.

In 2000, Catalyte’s founder Michael Rosenbaum was a Harvard economics and law fellow. As an advisor in the Clinton White House, he proposed the theory that underserved urban populations contained just as many people with talent to succeed in the emerging field of software development as any other. They were just overlooked by a system that valued certain cultural markers rather than innate ability.

To prove this point, Michael built a big data engine that could create a diverse, affordable and sustainable workforce by removing biases from hiring and objectively selecting candidates who have the potential to become great software engineers. After over 18 years and hundreds of thousands of applicants, Catalyte continues to fine-tune the platform to ensure continued success of our people and clients’ software outcomes.

Our Talent Difference

Using AI and data science to discover high-performing talent from local communities, Catalyte creates software engineering workforces where others cannot. By enabling our employees to launch new careers in the technology industry, Catalyte also transforms lives and the communities in which we work.

We train individuals for five months via an onboarding program to become full-stack enterprise software developers experienced in team-based Agile methodology. After successfully completing onboarding, Catalyte guarantees graduates employment in our two-year apprenticeship program. During that time, they are blended into software development teams and deployed on projects for Fortune 1000 clients, such as Under Armour, Nike, eBay, Blue Cross Blue Shield and others.

As our clients report, Catalyte’s workforce consistently outperforms traditionally assembled teams in speed, quality and performance. And, with the ability to build software workforces where needed, we allow our clients to develop their technology in any location.
